Apiguard
Apiguard is a natural and easy to use treatment to control varroa mite populations in honeybee colonies.
Apiguard is a slow release gel containing thymol derived from the plant thyme, and ideal in integrated pest management programmes.
This is 1 box, containing 10 trays - 5 treatments.
Apiguard gel comes in 50gram ready to use aluminium trays, 2 trays will treat 1 standard colony and has no harmful effect on the honey bee colony, brood or adults.
Place the open tray face up in the top of the brood frames centred over the colony. After 10 days check the tray and if almost empty replace with a second tray. If there's product left after 10 days wait until day 14 then replace. Leave the second tray in position for a further 2-4 weeks and treatment is complete.
Apiguard has a treatment period of 4 to 6 weeks and works best in temperatures above 15°C. It's also effective at lower temperatures even though the gel takes longer to evaporate and the gel needs to be left I place for longer.
